Off the main trails (2,7 km one way) High Places of Sacrifice Trail towards Wadi Farasa East
If you have at least two days for Petra If you've planned a hike and want to get a little off the beaten track, then the High Places of Sacrifice Trail is perfect for you. From the main entrance, it branches off to the left shortly after crossing the Street of Facades. A steep climb leads to the High Place of Sacrifice, offering a fantastic panoramic view of the rock city. A few motivated tourists still find their way here, but most return to the center of Petra the same way.
Alternatively, you can follow the path to less touristy areas. You finally get down to the inside via a narrow stone staircase Wadi Farasa East. The hidden valley awaits with beautiful structures like that Garden temple, the Soldier grave, the colorful Triclinium and the so-called Renaissance tomb to you of you. Above all, you still have space for yourself here and leave the hustle and bustle on the Main Trail. Here you breathe silence, immerse yourself in another time and feel the spirit of Petra.
The High Places of Sacrifice path does not have to be walked back. It forms part of the Main Trail a circular route.
