Southern Amphitheater

The southern amphitheater of Jerash in Jordan is estimated to be around 90 AD. It includes 32 rows of seats and has a supporting barrel vault, two side arched gates and three frontal backdrop entrances. The exceptionally good acoustics are remarkable. Anyone visiting the southern amphitheater should be shown the ideal vantage point to test out the fantastic background noise. The old roman city Jerash was known in its heyday under the name Gerasa. It is still very well preserved because it was buried under desert sand for a long time and offers many interesting ones points of interest & sights.
