Group trips to Komodo National Park

You have several days, but a private trip doesn't suit you? No problem. Shared excursion boats for multi-day trips through Komodo National Park are less common, but that is also possible. Alternatively, you can also take part in a combination trip for Komodo and Flores.

Group Tour Flores & Komodo National ParkMulti-day travel packages

The program for multi-day tours varies greatly. For example, there are deals with overnight stays in Flores that combine an excursion program around Labuan Bajo with a day trip by speedboat to Komodo National Park. Alternatively, overnight tours are available, with the boat visiting both Flores shores and Komodo National Park. And finally there are boat tours, with a multi-day program in the national park. Such travel packages are ideal for solo travelers with time and a medium budget, for sociable travelers and for everyone who does not want to plan much.

A 2-3 day package that includes a visit to Komodo National Park costs around $300 to $400 per person. In addition to the pure tour length, you should always consider the actual length of stay within the Komodo National Park when making a comparison. Sometimes cheaper prices include shared sleeping cabins. The national park fees often have to be paid separately. As of 2023. Please note possible changes.

Transfer between Lombok and Flores

Many roads lead to Komodo. Low-budget travelers often decide against the plane and use particularly cheap public ferries to Flores. An interesting alternative for backpackers is a multi-day boat tour with snorkeling stops and a stopover in Komodo National Park.

Boat Tour Lombok Floresbackpacker tour

From Flores to Lombok (and vice versa) low-budget group trips are offered by boat. Although this is significantly more expensive than traveling by public transport, the price-performance ratio remains interesting for backpackers. Why? A stopover in the Komodo National Park with a visit to the Komodo dragons is already planned on this 3-4 day boat trip. Depending on the provider, other highlights of the national park are also approached. On the way, further island visits, snorkeling stops or even a snorkeling option with whale sharks can complement the program of the crossing. Accommodation and meals on board are included. The entire group usually sleeps on mattresses on deck.

There are various reports online that criticize hygiene or safety precautions on board. We haven't participated in such a trip with Magazine.Travel yet and therefore can't comment on the reviews. However, two travel-loving girls we met in Raja Ampat and Flores were absolutely thrilled with their tour. The price for such a backpacker tour to Komodo National Park is approximately $300-400 per person, depending on the provider and boat.

The Sudamala Resort offers an upscale atmosphere with a large outdoor pool for $100 per night for two people. Of course, there are much more exclusive options. You can also stay in suites with private pools or in resorts on small private islands off the coast of Labuan Bajo. Prices range from about $200 to $500 per night for two people. Especially since the government has repeatedly announced increases in the entrance fee for Komodo National Park, more and more luxury hotels are being built.
